The Self Sufficient Flutist is a teaching method I have developed and refined over years of working with flutists in private lessons and workshops around the world. It’s designed to empower flutists to strengthen their musical independence and versatility, regardless of their chosen genre or level of expertise.

Description

This method emphasizes building a deeper connection to harmony, rhythm, and musicality, enabling flutists to not only play melodies but also engage as complete musicians in any musical setting. Through unique and interactive exercises I’ve developed, participants learn to internalize rhythm, feel harmonic movement, and even accompany others, fostering an intuitive and active engagement with their musical surroundings.

Join me for three immersive classes where we’ll explore rhythm, breath, time, sound, musicality, flexibility, and more. Together, we’ll uncover the tools you need to become a truly Self Sufficient Flutist—capable, confident, and deeply connected to your music.

What Esteemed Flute Professors Are Saying

Hadar Noiberg taught an inspiring masterclass to the University of Michigan flute studio that radiated light into all the dark places in music  making and improvisation. By taking the fear out of music, they played with such joy and told me afterward that what they appreciated most was learning to improvise with each other. Her teaching is simple, elegant and can be deeply introspective! Meeting Hadar is a must.

– Amy Porter, flute professor at Michigan University

Hadar is an inspiring and creative teacher!  My students thoroughly enjoyed working with her through
improvisation and creativity.  Her performances push boundaries for flutists and show  them
various ways to explore music, their own practice and creativity.
– Paula Gudmundson, flute professor at the University of Minnesota, Duluth
Hosting Hadar Noiberg at the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, Alabama, was an absolute delight. She not only worked closely with our flute studio but also delivered an inspiring workshop for our music majors and an unforgettable recital. Hadar has an extraordinary gift for carving out a unique space where the flute becomes a voice that transcends genres. She defies being categorized as any one type of player—she’s a true musician who performs with depth, influence, and heartfelt passion. Listening to her is a transformative experience, and her teaching is equally powerful. She has an exceptional ability to unlock students’ creativity and vulnerability, equipping them to become versatile and expressive flutists in today’s dynamic music world.
– Kim Scott, flute professor at the Alabama School of Fine Arts
The Chicago Flute Club was delighted to feature Hadar Noiberg on our Fluting with the Stars Series this season. Her Brazilian-themed recital with guitarist, Edinho Gerber, was filled with colorful improvisations and interplay between the two instruments. Hadar’s fascinating commentary on musical styles and the understanding of rhythm and harmony led us in a playful interactive workshop. By the end, she had everyone releasing fears and restrictions while playing with a new sense of freedom and confidence.
– Beth Sennett, president of the Chicago Flute Club

What Self Sufficient Students Are Saying

Hadar has an amazing skill to find the exact way to help any student grow, and find a way to learn something and implement it right away in their music. I love to new setup, where every class have a subject which we do “group lesson” on, before going a head to individual work.

– Bud Anin-Aminof

I took the July 2020 course and it was really great. There was a lot to learn from music of all different genres and styles for flute.

– Averie

Hadar has taken me from being a perpetual adult beginner to a budding musician through her non-judgmental approach that focuses on my strengths instead of my weaknesses while encouraging my love of the flute no matter where I’m at on any particular day.

– Marcy Einhorn

After spending several years as a struggling self-taught flutist I had the good fortune to encounter Hadar Noiberg’s Self Sufficient Flutist Workshops. The workshops have benefitted me personally by greatly enhancing my music theory studies of chord structure and allowing me to observe the learning processes of other musicians. Most importantly this class has provided a measure of self confidence in performing solo or with a group.

I can recommend these workshops to flutists of any skill level, whether you are a classically trained musician working on improvisation, or a beginning-intermediate student honing your craft. And don’t forget- they’re really fun!

– Dave Workman

Hadar Noiberg’s “Self Sufficient Flutist” workshop has been highly instrumental in my development as a well-rounded musician. Her methods are none like I’d ever been exposed to in my classical training. I’ve enjoyed discovering how more parts work together to offer more musical possibilities than I previously imagined. Hadar’s process is innovative and fresh; one in which I am constantly building upon what I’ve learned, and paving the way for future development of improvisational skills.
